Couric wants Muslim Cosby Show

Posted: January 14, 2011 in Uncategorized

I would really like to know what is going on in the vacant space that is between Katie Couric’s ears.

Her latest winner was when she (in her “all-knowing, better than you” manner) offered the explanation to Muslim/American relations would be a Muslim version of the Cosby Show.

I need to ask, who is paying her to speak? Who ever is paying her, you may want to listen and reevaluate your tragic choice. Ok sure she used to be cute, and maybe that distracted you, but since the cute factor has faded…. can you hear her now? She really needs to a new line of work, one where no one has to listen to her. Maybe there needs to be a special place we can relocate people like Pelosi & Couric. Hey reality TV could film it, since surely it would be more entertaining than anything they are currently offering!

Click here to see The Red Eye’s take on Couric’s ridiculous statement, they are very funny (there is a bizarre break where they have a clip of a guy doing sit ups, but keep watching after that).

I love the one guy’s statement “You know what will make people more tolerant (of Muslims), not killing us… Stop trying to kill us, and we will accept you and learn about you”.

Another guy talking about the sitcom scenarios.. “what’s going to happen when she gets knocked up out of wed-lock, an unwed mother getting stoned”… “how do you work in an honor killing”.

I guess a benefit for a network, would be paying the actresses less, since they are covered up from head to toe. They also would not have to stick to the same actress for a part, who would know? Even the voice could be created the same way the synthesized singers voices are now.

Couric actually thinks the Cosby show changed opinion of “African-Americans”. Oh good grief. One that was not the intent of the show, nor did the show depict the average life any American (any race of any average American). It was more a family values show, not focused on transforming views about race. In fact many black people still oppose Cosby for giving the wrong impression of black people, and being a sell out. So if anyone was to gain something about race from the Cosby show, it was black people, looking to him as a role model, vs seeing him as going against what.. a welfare-ghetto, gang, slang… life style? For white people watching the Cosby show (with the exception of Couric) we did not see the Cosby show as a peek into the lives of a black family, it simply was a family values show.. like many other family values shows that were popular in the 1980s.

So would a Muslim Cosby show be geared toward reforming Muslim behavior, but instead cause more back-lash from Muslims because their life style was misrepresented or Americanized? And of course how could any network offer such a show, it would be hard to display nudity. Also remember the fuss fit Muslims had when Top Gear dressed up in burqas. Don’t forget the outrage over a cartoon depicting Mohammad. They are very skittish people, it does not take much to outrage them.

Again why do many Americans have a dim view of Muslims? Because they think anyone who is not a Muslims should die, because their answer to everything is violence, because of how they treat women… I think those alone are enough reasons, yet Couric thinks that can be blurred with a sitcom? Will someone please get Couric a reality check?

  1. I’m not sure Katie C. would respond to a reality check. She’s too well paid and too well regarded by the chattering classes.

True she is just too far gone, it would not be a tragic loss, if we did not have to put up with listening to her babble.

  3. bob says:

How about a Muslim version of Good Times? It could be centered around a NYC immigrant cabbie and his struggling family. Or maybe a Jefferesons type show about a muslim that owns a chain of corner grocers in university ghetto areas and his family is movin’ on up in America. No, I suppose not. While probably more accurate than a Cosby show and more racially centered, I image those would tick of muslims quite a little.

There actually is a muslim sitcom that I have seen on occasion. I think its called Little Mosque on the Prairie and is from Canada. It’s pretty successful up north.

Bob.. I had to look that up, it seemed to surreal.. “Little Mosque on the Prairie”.. yet it does exist

well dag, someone flag Couric down and let her know.. her wish was granted in Canada..

So.. I am curious, Canada, do you want Couric? Please take her, we will through in a Biden & Obama for good measure!

I was wasting away on twitter trying to find something to cure my boredom – and POW – somebody I follow tweeted this post. Now, I am not quite as bored. Thanks for posting nice material. – Frisbee
