Actions & Reactions

Rasmussen: For the past two years, optimism about the overall economy has been higher than optimism about personal finances. Prior to March 2009, however, the reverse was true.  Currently, just 24% believe their own personal finances are getting better while 31% believe that the U.S. economy was improving.

So why is that? Why would personal finances improve why the economy arround us is crumbling? Hummm, let’s think about that. Could it be because people are spending less (in turn paying off credit)? Yet note that is only 24%, figure the rest are hoping they still have a job tomorrow.

The Rasmussen Consumer Index reached its highest level ever at 127.0 on January 6, 2004.  The all-time low was reached on March 10, 2009 at 54.7.

The Rasmussen Investor Index reached its highest level ever at 150.9 on January 7, 2004.  The lowest level ever measured was 52.5 on March 9, 2009.

The baseline for the Rasmussen Consumer Index was established at 100.0 in October 2001.  At 82.4,  overall levels of economic confidence are significantly lower today than they were in the aftermath of the 9-11 terrorist attacks.

Notice the highest Consumer & Investor Index was in 2004, the lowest was just 2 months after Obama entered office.

Another interesting item.. Obama’s approval has plummeted again. Do you think this is due to the events in Wisconsin?

Rasmussen Reports: Presidential Approval Index rating of -20. That’s the lowest level of Strong Approval yet recorded for President Obama and the lowest Approval Index rating since November.

For those who may not understand what the problem is with Unions.. here is a simple illustration. Remember everything has a cost, and someone has to pay!

Now Wisconsin seems to have started trend… somehow skipping over Illinois (guess they are so corrupt in Illinois such a story would not make the news, and go figure the Indiana democrats are hiding in Illinois). The priorities of the Indiana governor are respectable, he sees the value of …not diverting the police from their job to pursue democrats who are refusing to do their job.

IndyStar: Daniels: I won’t send state police to round-up Democrats Governor expects lawmakers to return to Statehouse when the (House Bill 1468) “right-to-work” bill is dead.

And, he added, “I’m not sending the state police after anybody. I’m not going to divert a single trooper from their job protecting the Indiana public. I trust that the people’s consciences will bring them back to work. I choose to believe that our friends in the minority, having made their point, will come back and do their duty, the jobs that they are paid to do.”

Like I mentioned this fiasco is skipping over Illinois (for now), heck Illinois has enough issues with a (Democrat) screwing them over with raising personal & business income tax (way to go, so how is that economy up there?)

Townhall: Vote Democrat in 2012:  “When the going gets tough, we’ll literally flee the jurisdiction!”

Failing Teachers

Posted: February 21, 2011 in Uncategorized

What is a union? What is its purpose? I think this captures it well..

Directorblue: The goal of unions is to do the least work at the most cost.

Now think about that, and then think about teachers unions… those people paid to teach kids! They are in a constant battle to do the least work for the most money. You know like most politicians and our government !

Then think about the other issues with the Wisconsin scenario. The teachers are calling Scott Walker every name they can pull out of the sandbox. Why? Because he wants to save jobs, but it has a cost, and the teachers refuse to budge, they would rather jobs lost (surely not realizing it could be their own) vs negotiate. Also note teachers often are democrats, and most also support Obama.. yet did they realize the price for obamacare? Naw, they are in denial over that too. If you did not put the political pieces together, Walker is a Republican.

So what outlandish requests does Walker have, that has these teachers in such an uproar?

Under the governor’s proposal, unions still could represent workers, but they could not force employees to pay dues and would have to hold annual votes to stay organized. Only wages below the Consumer Price Index would be subject to collective bargaining, anything higher would have to be approved by referendum.

And for that the teachers are calling him Hitler & a dictator?

Protests sponsored by Obama…

President Obama, whose group Organizing for America, has bused in some of the nearly 70,000 protesters outside the state capitol on Saturday, last week called the bill “an assault on unions.”

Stage a protest, call named, hide from making decisions… How sad the politicians even went into hiding to avoid dealing with this. That alone says so much!

No excuses… (sadly some doctors felt sorry for them)

Townhall: The physicians wore lab coats Saturday as they stood on a street corner and offered medical notes to the tens of thousands of protesters who paraded past them.

Of course they “justified” their actions… but wait, Walker is trying to save their jobs.. their incomes! Yet they are stressed because they are protesting against the person who is trying to save their jobs? The result, they are “stressed” and get sympathy for that (unneeded) stress!

“One of the biggest stresses in life is the threat of loss of income, loss of job, loss of health insurance. People have actually been getting ill from this, or they can’t sleep.”

The doctors who rubber stamped sick notes, were shocked when they felt the nationwide back lash for their improper actions.

Take a look at a school district in Rhode Island, that has suffered from high drop out rates, and low grad-rates. Less than 50% graduate, And this is not because the school is tough, when they show only 7% are proficient in math!

NY Times: Teachers acknowledge that change is needed — the school’s graduation rate is 48 percent, and only 7 percent of students are proficient in mathematics by 11th grade — but they say they are struggling against difficult odds.

Adding to that from Hot Air: a little article and video clip for a deplorable school district in Rhode Island. When the a school district had a proven track record of failure and drop-outs (see: RI Kids Count) .. All of the teachers were canned, but they were brought back with higher pay.

Note Parisi is the union rep, he does not see the drop out problem as the teacher’s responsibility?? Wow. Yet if you view other schools in the state of Rhode Island, there are a good number that have over a 90% graduation rate… so either children who have the misfortune of living in that school district have damaged brains, or hey it IS the teachers fault!

CNN: So in this town where the average income is $22,000 the average teacher is now making $76,000. What are the community members paying for?

James Parisi: The highest paid teachers are making about $76,000, which frankly I don’t think is enough for the committed professionals that are in that school district.

CNN: You had a 93% fail rate. That’s undeniable.

JP: And you think that’s caused by teacher’s actions?

CNN: Absolutely.

JP: I don’t think the teachers are responsible.

My quest for the Perfect Gun!

Posted: February 19, 2011 in Uncategorized

I just posted over on “Guns, Guns, Guns” about my quest for (my) perfect gun.. Visit Guns, Guns, Guns for my entire story.

Here is my dream gun: Uberti Top Break #3 Russian

Have you seen anything more perfect. I had seen top-break revolvers, but they were always antiques..  which are definitely cool, but I would be worried about using it. The upside, Uberti & Cimarron make new Russian #3 revolvers. The downside they are a 44/45 caliber. So I just need to figure out how to get affordable ammo.

There is always some major barrier to any gun I have even remotely been interested it. Too often if I am interested in any gun, they simply vanish off the face of the earth. I do not think my request is that unrealistic… I want a manageable (price and recoil) caliber, a barrel that is not too short or too long, the weight to be balanced and not too heavy, a grip that is comfortable, and bonus if it is nice to look at too! Is my desire too outrageous? Seems like it surely must be!

Pop Tarts & Politics

Posted: February 17, 2011 in Uncategorized

It is hard to miss any media frenzy that focuses on the various young pop tarts, like Justin Bieber. When he first surfaced a neighbor’s pre-teen was showing me a you-tube clip. I asked her if that was a girl, and found the “deep” lyrics which included only “baby-baby… baby” to be mind numbing. As this little boy increased in popularity, for some demented reason he now has a movie about his” life”. Really? This child is 16 years old. commercials for this movie show him flailing at a drum set with no coordination what-so-ever! Still I see this as no surprise, he has formed himself into a marketing “tool”.

Ok fine.. but then this child expressed his disapproval on the US health care system. Really a 16-year-old has acquired a deep understanding of health care, and enough to logically compare US vs Canada. Surely his mommy & daddy are still carting him to and from the doctor when he needs care. So what is worse the idiot who asked him questions, or the fact that this child thinks he has enough information to make a judgement on health care?

Here is what the child expressed on this topic.. prepare your brain may go numb..

Associated Content: Bieber even chimed in on the health care crisis here in the US. As he explained, “Canada’s the best country in the world. We go to the doctor and we don’t need to worry about paying him, but here, your whole life, you’re broke because of medical bills. My bodyguard’s baby was premature, and now he has to pay for it. In Canada, if your baby’s premature, he stays in the hospital as long as he needs to, and then you go home.”

When ever I hear this pre-pubescent boy speak, i immediately imagine Mickey Mouse!

I know some folks from Canada, and it does seem they do only receive the liberal-washed media points about America. Many see Americans as living versions of old wild-west movies. They think we all are highly armed, and pull guns on people to solve every issue. If we are not shooting to kill, we are dying in the streets from our health care system. If only we could get a non-liberal perspective to them, but if we could.. would they listen? Or is Canada too liberal to comprehend?

So will this pop-tarts comment be ignored by the quivering pre-teens (and their mothers who wish they were still pre-teen)? Or will he lose popularity in America? Well again, look at his audience, odds are it will be forgotten, overlooked, or never heard.

With the way our country is run by apologetic cowards.. is the bald eagle the right symbol for our country? Looking back at the wisdom of Ben Franklin, it seems our country has instead become a symbol of what Franklin saw the bald eagle representing..

from Greatseal.com “Because of their size, bald eagles are not concerned about threats from other birds. However, eagles are often chased by smaller birds, who are trying to protect their young. . . It was Benjamin Franklin’s observations of a bald eagle either ignoring or retreating from such mobbing that probably led to his claim of the bald eagle’s lack of courage.” – Bald Eagle Information

Franklin saw the eagle as having bad moral character.. I think we definitely do need to look more often at the wisdom that founded our (once great) country!

Franklin’s Letter to His Daughter (excerpt)

“For my own part I wish the Bald Eagle had not been chosen the Representative of our Country. He is a Bird of bad moral Character. He does not get his Living honestly. You may have seen him perched on some dead Tree near the River, where, too lazy to fish for himself, he watches the Labour of the Fishing Hawk; and when that diligent Bird has at length taken a Fish, and is bearing it to his Nest for the Support of his Mate and young Ones, the Bald Eagle pursues him and takes it from him.

“I am on this account not displeased that the Figure is not known as a Bald Eagle, but looks more like a Turkey. For the Truth the Turkey is in Comparison a much more respectable Bird, and withal a true original Native of America . . . He is besides, though a little vain & silly, a Bird of Courage, and would not hesitate to attack a Grenadier of the British Guards who should presume to invade his Farm Yard with a red Coat on.”

Reflecting on the symbol of America, here are some images of America’s Great Seal… from Greatseal.com see also Wikipedia

Charles Thompson’s preliminary design of America’s Great Seal

It was Kennedy who said “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country”.

Obamas simply say “Ask Not”. While Obama may think he is another JFK, he is Carter the sequel.. and Michelle Obama thinks she is the next Jackie, yet she is nothing more than a trailer trash reject!

The Obamas fail to ask, they only tell, they stage their audience with the obedient, add that they refuse to receive any questions.. since they are all-knowing (yet only they think so).

The latest? Michelle Obama knows science better than scientists, and is going to push her theories on the rest of us.. at our expense of course!

Townhall: As part of her “Let’s Move!” anniversary celebration this week, Mrs. Obama rolled out a new breastfeeding initiative because “kids who are breastfed longer have a lower tendency to be obese.” She made her assertion to an invitation-only group of handpicked reporters who were barred from asking questions about her scientific conclusions. It’s not healthy to challenge Super Nanny, you see.

But as I’ve noted many times over the past year, Mrs. O’s real interest isn’t in nurturing nursing moms or slimming down kids’ waistlines. It’s in boosting government and public union payrolls, along with beefing up FCC and FTC regulators’ duties.

Michelle does not take the knowledge of doctors and scientists, she just instinctively “knows” she is right. What a lovely pair (of nuts) the Obamas are, I do feel for THEIR children!

I think mothers should opt for breast milk, if they can.. but I do not think this should be strong armed by the government. Interesting the same people who support abortion, also want to control what infants consume. Do they think they are covering all bases? If they do they are missing the point that pushing people to do something is not “choice”.

Breast feeding is healthier for the mom and baby, plus cheaper. But does the alternative make children fat? Maybe they need to look at the bigger picture. Who opts for formula? Often working mothers, it is more convenient, and or because they are single mothers and just do not have time to dedicate to the child they brought into the world. The working mother than often has to rely on day care to raise their child(ren), so their diet surely will be compromised. So not merely formula but the entire quality of life that often comes with a parent who has to opt for formula feeding.

Interesting is also how formula feeding is shoved on welfare mothers, by the government. So while the government thinks they should control America’s families and how they raise their children.. the government needs to look at what they are doing. The government should not have such intimate involvement, they should not be regulating our lives, telling us how to live, what to eat, and how to raise children.

Think about how poorly the government handles everything they touch, yet they think they need to control more things?? They can not even handle what they are supposed to handle!

Attention Obama & Crew, adding more government control will not fix the current problems created by government control.. back off!
