ID and Voting: What are they afraid of?

Posted: July 7, 2011 in Uncategorized

From Fox, Democrats fussy about photo ID’s being required for voting. What are they afraid of? Confirming Democrats are afraid of losing votes… Bill Clinton spoke up against photo ID’s…

accusing Republicans of trying to “disenfranchise” minority voters who would  “tend to vote for Democrats.”

Democrats are crying out referencing “Jim Crow” laws, which was basically a segregation law. How on earth can Democrats compare proving an individual’s identity in order to vote to relating to segregation? (side note: Interesting that Jim Crow laws were legislated by Democrats.)

I like what  Scott Walker (Wisconsin) said about this issue:

“If you need an ID to buy cold medicine, it’s reasonable to require it to vote,”  he said in a statement.

  1. Katie says:

Gee, isn’t it racist to suggest that certain races are too dumb to obtain photo id?

Walker is right, I have to provide photo ID to obtain over the counter kids’ cold medicine, yet something as vitally important as voting – no id, no problem.

I guess that the true problem is that voter ID’s tend to discourage illegal from voting, and they tend to vote DemoRat.

Of course, I’m of the other belief. In order to vote, you have to pay taxes. Since I believe that everyone should pay taxes (especially the 47% that don’t), that means that everyone should be able to vote. But, if you don’t pay into the system, why should you be able to vote yourself more and more stuff that someone else has to pay for?

Exactly.. Democrats are afraid of losing votes. They focus on the ignorance of the masses..

I would also take it that further step.. only taxpayers can vote. Heck I feel those who serve our country are the only ones who truly have earned the right to vote..but paying somehow, someway should be a qualifying factor.. yet all we are asking for is they have a photo ID, yet that is a major issue.. yike eh?

  2. Chad says:

I’m more with Heinlein’s idea. Only veterans can vote. Not even active duty folks.

    • gypsy says:

that is fair! I agree with that. I am not a veteran.. I honestly do not feel worthy to vote. I can not imagine those who suck off gov’t hand offs, and those here illegally, and other criminals.. how they can feel they should be allowed that right.
