Soap, Sitcom & The Bible.

Sorry if this offends anyone but this is something that has bounced around in my head for sometime and I just need to share. I often bite my tongue when it comes to religion, and I always try to respect others religious beliefs, even if they do not respect that I am not religious. I do not like the cramming of any religion down anyone’s throat, just as I am about those who want to strip away religion. So yes I often bite my tongue out of respect, and trying to stand on that middle line.

That aside…

Have you ever wondered when they will use the Bible as a source for a sitcom or soap? Think about it, preposterous plots, unfathomable story lines, epic adventures, the strife, the heartbreak, the titillating stories.

I also think about how what once was a religion (Greek Gods) how that has been a standard of myths and stories. How long before current religions become the same thing? For me religion has always been away for people to create an answer for something they can not explain. Just like a parent tries to explain things to a child. They don’t know the answer but they get creative in finding a way to make the kid stop asking for a while. Ok yes religion can also be a way for people to meditate their issues away, by “handing” all their woes off to some entity, by praying.

People often point out the connections of the Bible to something tangible, an event, a location, etc… but myths, legends, fairy tales, they too can find connections to tangible things. In order to create a story you need to start with something you know, and that is how I view the Bible.

I guess one reason for the Bible not being used for sitcom or soaps is due to the media being controlled by liberals. They would not want to dare create something with out sex, profanity and raunchy individuals.. well not in the light of offering an example of how not to believe (yes I do believe in the morality that the Bible encourages, or should encourage). In essence morality would be against the liberal media’s “religion”.

Again just a bean that was rolling around in my head.
